Whilst this is a decent and very affordable book on Vintage Fashion, customers need to be aware that this book contains EXACTLY the same content as the book Amazon is telling you to 'buy it together' with - 'Vintage Fashion' the one with the Foreword by Zandra Rhodes and author listed as Emma Baxter-Wright. The authors of this book are named as 'Special Contributors' to 'Vintage Fashion'.

The content in this cheaper book is just a much pared down, affordable version of 'Vintage Fashion' but all/any text and images used are the same. Had this been made clear somewhere I wouldn't have bought it, as I already have 'Vintage Fashion'.

If you don't already own the other book then this is nice enough, albeit a brief overview (only three double pages per decade)looking at fashion shapes and styles from 1900s to 1980s. There's also glossary of designers and fashion terms at the back. With Amazon's offer and free posting it made it good value for money.

If you are already a vintage aficionado then there won't be anything new for you here and if you already own the far superior but accordingly more expensive, 'Vintage Fashion' then there is definitely no need to buy this.

I do think it's a bit of a swiz to not to tell you that it is a rehash of another book and to list it under different authors so you can't even work it out for yourself before buying.

I bought this book as a Christmas present for my friend. It's really useful as she's doing A-level textiles and the book looks at fashion through the decades.

Got the first one as a present and absolutely loved it. I couldn't wait for this one to come out. Once I finally got it I was amazed...it has bags, shoes, dresses and hats all the way through to jewelry, glasses,faces, hair and make-up! The drawings are superb and the ideas used are unbelievable, also its great for drawing ideas, can not understand why anyone would not want to buy it. Amazing and a must buy

This looked like a really good present for my 12 year old daughter who is keen on fashion and very artistic. I found on looking through it the ideas were really good but the paper is like the paper in a cheap colouring book. So not worth the money.

I am currently a 3rd year fashion student and was optimistic about this book thinking it would be aimed at a basic level although it does present simple exercises in drawing etc, it is effective and offers a way in which you can improve in all areas of 2d fashion design. The book contains fashion figure templates for mens, womens and childernswear design. It is a very recent publication and is very up to date on the subject of fashion even listing trade publications and other useful information . It also presents other peoples work as examples which i found quite helpful as it displays a wealth of styles and alows you to compare your own work. It guides you through the design process from mood boards, specification and c.a.d. although it is not a manual how to use fashion programs it presents c.a.d. as a tool which can be utilised to your advantage presenting the posibilities . This book is a must for anyone looking to improve there 2d skills and portfolio and it is at a good price too; top marks

I love it! This book has been the answer to all my fashion drawing dilemmas. It explains techniques of fashion drawing and fashion design in really simple, basic steps that everyone can understand even if they have never picked up a pencil!

It shows you how to draw female and male poses, and even has a section on children and costume design! Faces, hands and feet were my nightmare and, using simple exercises and sketches, this book has made it all so easy.

It has excellent illustrations and fashion drawings, clothing/flats, fashion figures and templates. And the presentation chapter and portfolio chapters are really helpful. Every page is an inspiration! Buy this book now and, like me, I am sure you will never regret it!

The whole of this range of colouring books are really good. Bought this one for my 5 year old daughter and she loves it. My 7 year old wants one too. The paper is good quality and such a different kind of colouring book, ideal for girls into their clothes. they do boys ones too called colouring for boys I think. can't recommend enough.

I got this book since my 5 year old granddaughter loves colouring. She was absolutely thrilled. I was worried it was too old for her but not at all! Would recommend it to any young girls who love fashion and colouring.

Bought as a gift, my friend seemed pleased with it and she's a fashion addict. Her teenage duaghter also read it and enjoyed it.

Our 10-year old daughter and I enjoyed this book in a museum gift shop after seeing a Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit. (It was full price there, so we came looking here...)

Each of the 50 artists is presented in about 3-5 pages. The narrative seemed solid (pretty well-written, decent scope), and the full-color, large photos accompanying each artist (caveat - I did not read all 50, but it appeared photos of designs accompany each) add significantly to the book's value and enjoyment. Even at full price, this is a good value for anyone about 9+ years of age who finds the topic interesting. I think it would be an excellent gift choice for a preteen or high-school age student interested in fashion design.
